Advent 2026

Loves’s Pure Light

In Love’s Pure Light, Gospel passages and selections from the Nicene Creed reveal how God in Christ has made His love known. In Jesus, the Light of the world, “very God of very God,” we see God the Father’s love in the flesh, sent for our salvation.

As promised by God and foretold by the prophets, the Christ was born. Jesus is love’s pure light: humble, gentle, and patient—a Friend of sinners, like you and me. In taking on human flesh, the Savior put aside His glory and sacrificed His life for our sakes, so that we too might become children of God.

Into this world, the Father sent His Son to show His grace and mercy toward sinners. This truth—given in the Gospels and expressed in the Nicene Creed—tells us that no light illuminates greater than God’s love. And Jesus, the Light of the world, perfectly displays love’s pure light sent into our darkness.
