LHM Materials Encourage Individuals at Successful Aging Festival

Stockton University’s Center on Successful Aging (SCOSA) holds an annual Successful Aging Festival where members of the community gather together for workshops, lectures, exhibitor booths, and fellowship, centered around positive experiences for older adults.

Pastor of Peace Lutheran Church in Galloway, New Jersey, Rev. Renato Hoerlle, participated in this year’s festival with an “Aging and Spirituality” booth. This annual event brings together many resources related to aging well, and he realized there has been very little focus on spirituality and the hope we have in Christ.

Rev. Hoerlle took several of LHM’s Project Connect booklets with him to distribute at the festival. Some of the booklet topics included depression, anxiety, cancer, Alzheimer’s, grief, and devotions.

He shared that the experience at the festival was very positive. He and another member of the congregation who went to the festival had several opportunities to share the Good News. They had many personal conversations and directed people to additional LHM materials.

“The festival was a wonderful opportunity for us to share the Gospel, listen to people, encourage them, and also make Peace Lutheran Church more visible in our community,” says Rev. Hoerlle. “Thank you to everyone who helped in different ways—through prayers, preparations, materials, encouragement, and support. We are serving together in this effort.”
