Indonesia
LHM Ministry Response
Freedom of religion is guaranteed by Indonesia’s constitution. The Indonesian government recognizes Islam, Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Confucianism as official religions; 86 percent of the country’s people are Muslim, while approximately 9 percent are Christian.
Lutheran Hour Ministries-Indonesia, known locally as Anchor of Life, will use radio broadcasting along with print resources and trained volunteers to reach out in Indonesian communities. LHM-Indonesia will work in close cooperation with the Lutheran churches in Indonesia to reach out to Indonesians, and especially to the unreached people in the communities near Lutheran congregations and their members.
Anchor of Life’s radio broadcasts will offer spiritual advice and opportunities to participate in LHM’s Bible Correspondence Courses (BCC), which provide a foundational understanding of the grace and love of God in Jesus Christ.
Anchor of Life will also use personal outreach through volunteers to demonstrate Christian love, compassion, and forgiveness, and thereby build meaningful relationships with their non-Christian neighbors. LHM’s Equipping the Saints (ETS) evangelism training workshops will be used to prepare and empower volunteers to share the Gospel effectively.
