Let’s Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month Together
Hispanic Heritage Month is an opportunity to celebrate and thank God for the cultural, historical, and spiritual richness He has planted within our Spanish-speaking communities in the United States.
It’s a time to remember that our roots (whether Hispanic or not) and our stories are part of a greater plan, and that our identity is not only shaped by our cultural heritage, but also by our faith in Christ.
When and Why Do We Celebrate?
September 15 – October 15
This commemoration began in 1968 as a special week implemented by President Lyndon Johnson, and in 1988 it was extended by President Ronald Reagan to a full month.
September 15 marks the independence of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua, followed by Mexico (September 16) and Chile (September 18).
It’s a month to honor the legacy and impact of our Hispanic neighbors, thank God for His good gifts, and share His love with the next generation.
