Acts 3:11-13a - While he [the lame beggar] clung to Peter and John, all the people, utterly astounded, ran together to them in the portico called Solomon's. And when Peter saw it he addressed the people: "Men of Israel, why do you wonder at this, or why do you stare at us, as though by our own power or piety we have made him walk? The God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, the God of our fathers, glorified His servant Jesus ...."
Just before our Bible reading starts, God has used Peter and John to heal a man who could not walk. Now they are in the temple courts and the healthy man is still clinging to them! The story tells us he was already walking and leaping, so he is fully healed. He has no physical need to be hanging on to Peter and John. But emotional need—oh, yes, he has that. He is hanging on to these men out of joy and thankfulness, because they are the ones God used to heal him. He can't bear to let go of them.
And we hang on to Jesus the same way, don't we? Because we, too, were once completely helpless and desperately in need of a Savior. If you were baptized as a baby, you may not remember those days. But I do, and I can tell you it's not something I'd like to return to. God describes life without Jesus as darkness ... being lost ... being a slave oppressed by evil ... being spiritually dead.
And then Jesus came. Jesus came into this world for you and for me, and for all the people God made—to give Himself as our Savior. His suffering and death have broken the power of evil over us, and His resurrection means that we, too, will live with God forever. We are forgiven. We are healed. We are cleansed, renewed, remade. And all because of Jesus!
Let's cling to Him with all our might.
WE PRAY: Lord Jesus, I don't ever want to lose You! Let me cling to You. But more important, hold on to me, because then I will never be lost. Amen.

Reflection Questions:
1. When is a time you remember holding on to someone for dear life? What was happening?
2. How do you "cling to Jesus" even though you cannot see or touch Him at present?
3. How does Jesus hang on to you?
