"If you hold to My teaching, you are really My disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." John 8:31-32
The Declaration of Independence has changed the course of human history. Many books have been written that have altered society's way of thinking and living as well.
Towering over every document and book written, there is one book, which has done more than any other to change the world. That is the Bible, the Word of God spoken through God's chosen writers. Jesus, the Son of God, asks us to believe this Word.
We are asked to search God's Word for meaning in life. All of the great fundamental problems of humankind are answered in the Bible. Why are we here in the world? Where are we going? Is there a God? What kind of God do we believe in? What is sin? Does God care for us? Why do people have sorrow and heartache? What is true happiness? What happens after death?
When we read the Bible, we obtain answers to these and many more questions. We know God's truth through His Law and Gospel. We learn that because of Jesus' death and resurrection our sins are forgiven and we are free of guilt. As a result, we discover the happiness that comes from the promise of heaven.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, increase our desire to study Your Word through which we learn of Your will and especially of Your Son, Jesus, our Savior; for His sake. Amen.
