The salvation story of Jesus Christ reaches around the world. So that the readers of our Daily Devotion may see the power of the Savior on a global scale, we have asked the volunteers of our International Ministry Centers to write our Friday devotions. We pray that the Spirit may touch your day through their words.

Speaker of The Lutheran Hour
Recently, an advertisement was shown in our country that didn’t feature women, children, dogs, little babies, or a happily-in-love couple. It didn’t include impressive music, famous people, special effects, a catchy brand name or a “buy-two-get-one-free” offer. Indeed, there was nothing gimmicky about this ad.
This ad was trying to promote peace. There was no controversy in the ad since most of us believe that peace is a good thing.
The ad had only one flaw.
It told people they needed peace, but it didn’t share where they could find it.
When the Savior spoke about peace, His words had no such shortcoming. In John 14:27, the beloved apostle John quotes the Redeemer as having said, “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
This is the advertisement from God in which He announces we can find this peace only through Jesus Christ. Only in God’s Son, our Savior, can we have true peace: a peace which brings tranquility, love, hope and joy — a peace that changes fear in our lives into faith.
And it is faith in Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace, which saves! Amen.
THE PRAYER: Lord, grant us the grace that our time in this world may be blessed with the peace which comes through Holy Spirit-given faith in the crucified and risen Savior. It is in His Name we pray it. Amen.
