Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month

Hispanic Heritage Month, which takes place from September 15 to October 15 each year, is an opportunity to celebrate and thank God for the cultural, historical, and spiritual richness He has planted within our Spanish-speaking communities in the United States. It’s a time to remember that our roots (whether Hispanic or not) and our stories are part of a greater plan, and that our identity is not only shaped by our cultural heritage, but also by our faith in Christ.

This commemoration began in 1968 as a special week implemented by President Lyndon Johnson, and in 1988 it was extended by President Ronald Reagan to a full month.

September 15 marks the independence of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua, followed by Mexico (September 16) and Chile (September 18).

It’s a month to honor the legacy and impact of our Hispanic neighbors, thank God for His good gifts, and share His love with the next generation.

Being a global organization is about working and walking together, and collaborating with each other while we serve God, His kingdom, and His people.

Connected to Vivenciar.net is our Hispanic Heritage Month theme for 2026, called “Abraza la Vida” (Embrace Life). September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, and the LHM team wants to use this time to promote awareness around mental health, spread the word on Vivenciar.net, and share more information about our topical booklets that are focused on mental health, which give people a Christ-centered perspective on these topics. In a world shaped by a culture of death, we want to invite our audiences to embrace life, and to have relief in the promises of forgiveness, salvation, and eternal life we find in God and His Word alone.
