About the Author
Bruce Wurdeman
The host for Reel to Real-Of Fish and Men is Bruce Wurdeman, the executive director of Lutheran Hour Ministries. In this position since 2009, Wurdeman is the chief administrative and executive staff member of the organization. Prior to this post, he directed LHM's United States Ministries Division for 18 months. There he oversaw The Lutheran Hour, seasonal television specials, print materials, and the Men's NetWork-the group behind the production of Reel to Real.
Previously, Wurdeman worked for eight years at LHM in the Volunteer Opportunities Division as a manager and assistant director. Aside from LHM, he has worked as a mission and ministry facilitator for the Texas District of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS). He has also served the church as a school principal and director of adult education in Eureka, Missouri; a director of campus ministry for the North Dakota District of the LCMS; a director of youth ministry in North Dakota, and a math/science teacher and youth director in Bethalto, Illinois.
Wurdeman has a bachelor's degree in education and school administration from Concordia University Chicago, and a master's degree in exegetical theology (Old Testament) from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis. In 2012 he received an honorary doctorate from Concordia University in Chicago. He attends St. John Lutheran Church in Ellisville, Missouri. He and his wife Marijane have three grown children and three grandchildren.
