What's going on at Lutheran Hour Ministries' center in Mexico City these days? Here's an update for you.
Brigada Medica. One of the events that Lutheran Hour Ministries—Mexico uses to reach out and build relationships in the Mexico City community is the brigada medica, or health fair. On May 30, in partnership with San Pedro Lutheran Church of Mexico City, LHM—Mexico offered brigada medica services at a park not far from the church.
A special feature at the fair was a Christian theatre group called PARABOLE, which presented a lively drama titled Cambiando el Rumbo (Changing Course). The play depicted how the Bible's message of hope, freedom and life often seems to become lost or overwhelmed amidst a constant flow of news and other information that focuses on insecurity, instability, violence, and chaos. The play reminded its audience that what truly changes our course is Jesus Christ.
LHM and San Pedro staff and volunteers also offered an array of services that included blood pressure and glucose checks, along with education about dental care.
New Director! Just two days after the brigada medica, on June 1, the ministry center welcomed Rafael Ruelas as its new director! Rafael brings communications experience from the fields of government, business and education to his role as director. Rafael, his wife Argelia and their two children are members of San Pedro Lutheran Church, the ministry center's partner in its BREAD and health fair community outreach programs.
Please keep LHM—Mexico's ministry and staff in your prayers. For more information about the Mexico ministry center, visit cptlnmexico.wordpress.com.
