(Includes subtitles in English) - Ever wondered if some texts were intentionally excluded from the Bible and why? In Lost Books? the Men's NetWork looks at why some ancient writings failed to make the cut for inclusion, why other texts most definitely met the standard, and why others, including those "gospels" found in the last century, came up short.
In Lost Books?, host Rev. Gregory Seltz, Speaker of The Lutheran Hour, asks, "Were books intentionally excluded from the Bible? What if more information about Christ's life was buried for centuries? Are there books that should be in the Bible, but aren't?" Are these questions important? Absolutely! With worldwide hits like The Da Vinci Code and commercial and cable networks cranking out programs on cracking cryptic codes and unburying ancient secrets, the interest in knowing what the past has to say is running high. Often, too, these types of questions are directed to believers, putting them at a loss to answer those who wonder why the Bible should be believed over other ancient writings. In fact, many Christians have the same questions themselves.
Addressing these queries and several other issues are Dr. Paul Maier (professor emeritus, Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo); Dr. Jeffrey Kloha (associate professor of exegetical theology, Concordia Seminary, St. Louis); Dr. Randall Price (executive director of the Center for Judaic Studies, Liberty University, Lynchburg, Va.); and Joel Lampe (international director, The Bible Museum, Goodyear, Ariz.) Together these biblical experts will explore the fascinating and cryptic world of the Apocrypha, pseudepigrapha, and the Nag Hammadi codices. They will also consider topics like biblical inerrancy, Gnosticism, alternative gospels, divine inspiration, the supposedly lesser-known sayings of Jesus, text selection, and more. They will show why the 66 books of the Bible are considered the inerrant Word of God-a trustworthy cover-to-cover revelation from God to man.
