"Bringing Christ to the Nations" Via LHM's Parade Float
The 2018 theme for the 129th Tournament of Roses Parade is "Making a Difference." The Grand Marshal will be actor and activist Gary Sinise who is undoubtedly best known, beyond his crime drama characters on television, as Lt. Dan Taylor from the film, Forrest Gump.
This year's parade theme fits perfectly with the title of Lutheran Hour Ministries' float entry: "Bringing Christ to the Nations," which sums up its mission and points to the difference Christ makes in the lives of believers around the world. Throughout LHM's history, it has shared God's love with others through Gospel proclamation and by street-level acts of service and giving.
In Southern California each year, a dedicated group of volunteers from Petal Pushers apply elbow grease and enthusiasm in the fine art of decorating parade floats for The Lutheran Hour and some other entries. The Lutheran Hour float, however, has a special designation: it's the lone float entry that, in addition to being spectacularly constructed and ornamented with flowers, proclaims the Gospel to a worldwide audience of tens of millions of television viewers.
You can watch the parade without interruption on HGTV. Hosts Jonathan and Drew Scott (Property Brothers) and Nancy O'Dell (Entertainment Tonight) will provide commentary on the floats, marching bands, and the many equestrian units presenting in this year's parade.
