For He will hide me in His shelter in the day of trouble; He will conceal me under the cover of His tent; He will lift me high upon a rock. Psalm 27:5
Not so long ago the Associated Press carried a story about a bird in Slimbridge, England.
Actually, this was a bird that died when it crashed into a glass door at one of Britain's leading bird sanctuaries.
That's not unusual. Birds fly into doors all the time.
But this bird was different.
It was a Gray-cheeked thrush. It was a Gray-cheeked thrush which had apparently flown 3,000 miles across the Atlantic while migrating from its summer home in Canada to South America. Sadly, it managed to make the Atlantic crossing only to be killed when it reached the place where it should have been safest.
That bird reminds me of a lot of people I know.
They work and struggle and then bam! something happens. Just when they should have been the most secure, bam! they fall short of safety.
Sometimes the devil's tools of discouragement and depression get them down. Sometimes they feel their life has been blown off course. If that sounds familiar, please don't crash into any windows.
Remember the Lord loves you and because of His Son, our Savior, has promised to be with you. You may not be able to see Him, but He is, most definitely, watching over you, and He wants to keep you safe.
Put yourself in His hands and He'll give you what you need to keep on going.
