But God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8
It was during the presidency of Jimmy Carter an attempt was made to reinstate the registration for the draft. I'm showing my age when I say I remember those days.
I especially recall a picture that featured in many newspapers across the country. It showed a young student who was attending Princeton University. He was not especially conspicuous other than for the sign he was carrying. The placard simply read, "Nothing is worth dying for."
From the looks of the crowd surrounding him, it seems a great many people shared his opinions.
As a Christian, I am most thankful Jesus did not share that student's personal philosophy. Jesus, following the plan set into motion by His Father, believed humanity was worth dying for.
He believed saving the souls of sinners from eternal destruction and damnation was a good enough reason to sacrifice Himself. His is a gift unique in history, a gift for which we always ought to give thanks. After all, we have a Savior who believed we were worth dying for.

THE PRAYER:Dear Savior, I am humbled that You believed I am worth dying for. Grant me grace to live my life in thanksgiving for what You have done and help others see the joy of my salvation. In Your Name. Amen.
