Everything is possible for him who believes. Mark 9:23b
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ:
The salvation story of Jesus Christ reaches around the world. So that the readers of our Daily Devotion may see the power of the Savior on a global scale, we have asked the volunteers of our International Ministry Centers to write our Friday devotions. We pray that the Spirit may touch your day through their words.
In Christ, I remain, His servant and yours,
Kenneth R. Klaus
Speaker of The Lutheran Hour
People might believe in any number of things: superstitions, horoscopes, fables, and even different gods. But there is only one belief worth having. It is that faith that relies on Jesus Christ. This also includes submitting to God’s guidance and respecting His laws.
Many people think if they accept God’s existence, they are believers. They try to avoid God’s law or say it is not necessary to fully keep it. People create and keep their own laws. But the man whose belief is sincere has no doubts about any of God’s laws; he knows God created them for his benefit.
As human beings, we will never be perfect, but as we pray and learn God’s Word we can grow in that Word and mature in our faith. We will always make mistakes because we are sinful by nature, but we believe God will forgive our sins because of Jesus Christ’s sacrificial death and resurrection.
Our Lord helps us with our problems as we carry our load. You might have heard the saying, “God helps those who help themselves.” But it might better be said that God helps those who realize they cannot do it by themselves.
THE PRAYER: Gracious Father, help us carry our load by strengthening our faith in Your love for us. Amen.
