God’s Family Picture

Tuesday, October 27, 2026 (All Saints’ Day)

After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!” And all the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures, and they fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, saying, “Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God forever and ever! Amen.” Then one of the elders addressed me, saying, “Who are these, clothed in white robes, and from where have they come?” I said to him, “Sir, you know.” And he said to me, “These are the ones coming out of the great tribulation. They have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Therefore they are before the throne of God, and serve Him day and night in His temple; and He who sits on the throne will shelter them with His presence. They shall hunger no more, neither thirst anymore; the sun shall not strike them, nor any scorching heat. For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their Shepherd, and He will guide them to springs of living water, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.” (Revelation 7:9-17)

Have you ever looked at pictures of a huge party or concert you once went to? Part of the fun is looking closely to see where you are among so many people. And when you see yourself, you mark the spot with your finger and call to your family or friends, “I found it. I’m right here!”

Here you are in this picture, too—along with everyone who belongs to Jesus, from every age or place. This is the great morning of the universe, and Jesus has waked us all from the dead. Not one of us is missing. Not one of us is sad, or stressed, or troubled in any way. No wonder we are all so happy and excited, waving our palm branches and calling out praise to Him!

Look more closely. We have pure white robes to wear—we are spotless, clean, and forgiven, because Jesus has seen to it with His own blood! And we have our own bodies alive again, but now we are strong and healthy; each one of us is finally the way God always dreamed we would be. Sin will never touch us again. Death is a distant memory.

Look even more closely. Who is that in the middle of the throne, looking like a Lamb that has been slain? It’s our dear Lord Jesus, alive and rejoicing with us! We will never be away from Him again. He is our shelter and our Shepherd, and He calls us each by name.

And He knows and loves you. He sees you and is coming to you now. His hands go out to you—He is touching your face! Why?

He is wiping away the tears from your eyes.

WE PRAY: Dear Lord Jesus, come quickly! Amen.
