The salvation story of Jesus Christ reaches around the world. So that the readers of our Daily Devotion may see the power of the Savior on a global scale, we have asked the volunteers of our International Ministry Centers to write our Friday devotions. We pray that the Spirit may touch your day through their words.

Aren’t the words of Scripture remarkable? In a world full of white noise and competing voices on all fronts, the Word of God breaks through and puts it plainly. The God of the universe, the God who is holy and righteous and just — that God — has made a way for us to live.
And He has done this for us through His Son, Jesus Christ.
This is life-changing good news. This is for you and me. This is personal.
We, and that means all of us, who were once separated and lost have been brought close — redeemed — through faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus. Listen to the apostle Paul’s words, for they capture our predicament — and God’s graceful salvation — perfectly.
“Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behaviour. But now He has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in His sight, without blemish and free from accusation — if you continue in your faith, established and firm, not moved from the hope held out in the Gospel. …” (Colossians 1:21-23a).
This is all God’s doing, and what a thing He has done! We who were destined to be permanently separated from God due to our sinful natures have been given an everlasting hope, a hope that cuts through all the distractions and empty promises this world has to offer.
May 2011 find you believing in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.
THE PRAYER: Heavenly Father, thank You for Your infinite love, which You demonstrate to us in spite of our disobedience. Thank You for sending Your dear Son for the forgiveness of our sins and to obtain eternal life through Him. In Jesus’ Name we pray. Amen.
Biography of Author: This devotion is based on a text from Marisela Osorio, a deaconess who works with Project JOEL in Nicaragua. In that country, Lutheran Hour Ministries-Nicaragua, known locally as Cristo Para Todas Las Naciones (Christ for All Nations), has been sharing the Gospel since 1998. It does this by holistic ministry projects, prison visits, and by using Equipping the Saints (ETS) and Bible Correspondence Courses (BCC) through its offices in Chinandega and Leon.
