Jiminy Cricket used to sing about wishing upon a star.
Nowadays, it seems it’s the stars that do the wishing. That’s the story according to ABC News. Stars, that is, the famous folk among us, wish for a lot of things:
I could go on. I won’t.
What a contrast there is between the stars of today and the Savior of eternity.
Lest anyone not see the difference, I encourage him or her to look at the Savior who said He hadn’t been born to be waited on hand and foot. No, He entered this world so He might serve and give His life as a ransom for our salvation.
Indeed, every moment of Jesus’ life was spent giving to others, not taking from them. Every day He lived was dedicated to making sure all of us might be forgiven of our sins and invited to live with Him in heaven.
In short, stars make demands; the Savior gives Himself. You don’t have to be brilliant to see which of the two ought to be followed, worshiped, and adored.
THE PRAYER: Dear Lord Jesus, You have given Your all so we might be adopted into the family of faith. Now, send Your Holy Spirit upon the world so all may see the brilliance of Your love, observe Your caring, and so might be saved. In Your Name. Amen.
