Celebrating Children’s Day in Thailand
Thai Children’s Day is celebrated annually on the second Saturday of January and is one of the most widely celebrated days for families with activities held by cultural institutions and nonprofit organizations aimed at fostering joy and learning.
In the days surrounding this celebration, the LHM–Thailand staff organized a Children’s Day activity for around 800 students at two different schools in Kamphaeng Phet Province. In addition, they coordinated with a local pastor to hold events for nearly 1,500 students at three schools in his community.
The purpose of this activity was to encourage children and youth to recognize their responsibilities while learning various skills that will contribute to a positive future for them in line with the National Children’s Day slogan, “Love Thailand, Care for the World.” In addition to creating happiness and enjoyment, the LHM team shared a skit adapted from the parable of “The Lost Son (The Prodigal Son).” This helped the children learn about life values, parental love, and forgiveness within the family. The team also focused on pointing them to God’s love and forgiveness.
The children at each school showed strong interest and actively participated in the activities. Every student received a gift set that included ministry resources like the LHM booklet, Do You Know Who Jesus Is?, as an encouragement for the children to learn more about the love of Christ.
