Daily Devotions App FAQs

The LHM Daily Devotions app has a new name!
The icon you're used to clicking to access our Daily Devotions and inspirational sermons from The Lutheran Hour® looks a little different now. Just look for Connected by LHM on your mobile device to enjoy the same great content in the app. Don’t forget to share the app with others who want to stay connected to the unwavering message of Christ!

We’ve added more to the Connected by LHM app!
We’ve upgraded the app to with enhancements including the addition of The Lutheran Hour (TLH Sermons), plus the ability to take notes on devotions and sermons (free account required), and to search for related devotions and sermons based on scripture and author. We’ve put together some FAQs to help you navigate the new layout. Click the questions below to learn more!

Once you click to read a devotion, these are the main arrows and prompts to get you where you want to go:

You don’t. An account is not necessary to keep using the app, but there are a few new features that will ask you to set up a free account. If you want to take notes on a particular sermon or devotion, save your listening history, or if you wish to support our ministry through the app, a free account is required. You do not need to provide us with any information to read/listen to the devotions or sermons.

When you first click to listen, you may see a prompt to login that looks like this:

This is not required to play the media, you only need to sign-up / sign-in if you wish to save your listening history. Simply swipe down to ignore this prompt, and you can play the media on this screen.

You can! There’s an extra step to get back to the page with the text, but it’s still there! From the media page, you can click the arrow in the upper left corner of the screen to take you back to the screen with the text.

If you’re on the reading screen and want to pause or rewind the audio, you can click the icon in the upper right corner to get back to the audio screen with the controls. Clicking this icon will continue your listening if you’re in the middle of a devotion. Clicking the play button on the photo again will start the audio over.

Swipe down on the top of the app until you see a spinning wheel icon. Release the screen and the app will refresh with the most recent devotions.

Beginning with iOS 14 or later and iPadOS 14 or later, any app that might need to interact with other devices on your network (a smart speaker, for example) must ask for permission the first time that it tries to browse your local network. This is not required to use this app unless you wish to stream it through a network speaker or another device. You can learn more about Apple’s permissions and pop-up here. If you do not plan to connect to a local device, you can select “Don’t Allow” on this pop-up.

Navigate to the Daily Devotions feed. Scroll all the down to the bottom. "Daily Devotion Archives" and "Devotion Archives (All Years)" are the last two links in the feed. Clicking "Daily Devotions Archives" will provide you the past year of devotions and is hosted within the app. "Devotion Archives (All Years)" will send you to an archive on where you can access all Daily Devotions from past years.

Click the "Devotion Text - Larger Print" link located below the devotion text.

Click the "Change Font Size" button located on the bottom of the page. Use the up and down arrows to increase or decrease the font-size.

Audio controls to pause and play the devotion can be accessed by swipping down on the top of your screen.

Return to the app by clicking the back button on Androids or by the clicking the "Devotions" link in the upper left of the screen on iOS devices.

Some devices may cache the old app name of "LHM Daily Devotions" which is why the new app name of "Connected by LHM" may not display for some users.

To fix this, follow the directions below.


  1. Open up the app
  2. Open up the profile menu in the top-right
  3. Long press on the Subsplash logo at the bottom
  4. Use the "clear cache" option

NOTE: All downloads from this app will be deleted when you clear your app data. If you have downloaded favorites, they will no longer be on your device after clearing your data. If you are not logged in when taking notes, notes will also be deleted. Any notes taken while logged in to your account will be saved.

  1. Navigate to Device Settings -> Apps & Notifications
  2. Find the app
  3. Clear storage & cache
  4. Clear data

Change Their World. Change Yours. This changes everything.
