Lutheran Hour Ministries Can Help Your Church Be More Successful in Outreach
June 13, 2007
Many congregations have a passion for reaching the lost and would like to reach out to people in their communities more effectively, but where do you start? What programs work and don’t work? That’s what Lutheran Hour Ministries’ Congregational Partnerships program can help U.S. churches figure out. Your church can learn how to implement a new, exciting outreach plan that will help build your church’s reputation and help your church members actively reach out in the surrounding community.

Partner churches have access to outreach resources provided by Lutheran Hour Ministries, including training programs, religious research, and a Congregational Consultant. With these resources, LHM can help you increase visibility of your church and school within your community.

LHM’s Congregational Consultants help churches use the resources and programs that work best for them and tailor their outreach plans based on community demographics and the church’s traditional strengths. For example, churches that have a daycare program or school may want to reach out to young families using LHM resources that target families with children.

Lutheran Hour Ministries currently has eight partner churches with twenty-four more in the application process, all seeking customized outreach programs that will work in their unique communities. “We want LHM to help us understand who we are, what our neighbors need, and how we can fill the need in the community,” says Pastor Eric Linthicum of Grace Lutheran Church in Cincinnati, Ohio. “I’m excited and look forward to seeing how we’re going to partner together and what we’re going to accomplish.”

For more information, including partnership requirements, a list of outreach programs and resources available to churches, and an application for the partnership program, visit www.lhm.org/partner/default.htm.

Pastors: Need a Sermon for the Sunday of the Int’l LLL Convention?
The Rev. Mark Muenchow, Pastoral Advisor for the International Lutheran Laymen’s League, is writing a sermon on this year’s convention theme, “Let Your Light Shine,” which will be suitable for an elder to read while you’re attending convention, or for you to use as a sermon help on this theme while some of your members are attending the Int’l LLL convention in Duluth, Minnesota, from July 26-29. A link to the sermon will be provided in next month’s issue of this e-newsletter.
