LHM’s ‘Equipping to Share’ Workshops Can Help Your Church Reach the Lost
October 18, 2005
Lutheran Hour Ministries’ Equipping to Share workshops can train volunteers from your church to share the Good News in everyday situations with friends, family members, neighbors, and coworkers. Taught by LHM facilitators, these workshops teach church members how to share their faith with the lost in an effective and non-confrontational manner. Workshops encourage participants to witness and give them an increased ability to communicate the hope of Christ to the unchurched.

LHM facilitators focus on opportunities that God provides on a daily basis to share faith, opportunities called “mission moments.” The three categories of “mission moments” are times of crisis, long-term relationships, and brief encounters. EtS workshops teach Christians how to identify these moments and witness in relevant ways. The workshops combine the use of LHM's own religious demographic research with techniques for sharing Jesus with the lost to give your church the ability to reach out in a specific, personal way that fits your community’s interests and needs.

EtS workshops also teach your congregation about practical outreach programs and activities that will help you welcome new and potential church members more effectively. For example, some churches use LHM’s Project Connect® topical booklet ministry to reach out to suffering members, visitors, and neighbors. Project Connect is a practical, low-maintenance program that touches many lives. In addition, congregations are encouraged to hold a special Friendship Sunday, where members invite guests to services. Such efforts help congregations gain new members and increase their ability to share Christ’s message of hope with the lost.

The Equipping to Share program is attaining enormous success with congregations across the country. EtS will surpass this year’s goals by conducting more than 40 workshops and training more than 1,600 volunteers during Fall 2005/Spring 2006.

LHM is already scheduling workshop dates for Fall 2006/Spring 2007, so contact us now if your church is interested in hosting a workshop or if you would like to attend one in your area. Call Sarah Reinwald at 1-800-944-3450, ext. 4144, or send an e-mail to equipping@lhm.org if you would like information about workshop pricing or available dates.
