LHM Global Care Packages is a Lutheran Hour Ministries program featuring the By Kids ... For Kids, The Mothers Touch, and Teacher to Teacher efforts that provide care packages to children, mothers, and teachers. These packages bring joy and hope to people living in desperate situations around the world. The packages not only provide much-needed supplies, but also share the Good News of God's love.
Connecting with Ugandan Families The African country of Uganda has been chosen as the distribution location for LHM Global Care Packages in 2005/2006. Uganda is among the poorest 20 nations in the world. More than 40 percent of the population lives in poverty, lacking access to food, shelter, clothing, education, and health-care services. Many factors make Christian evangelism difficult in Uganda. Muslims are making a concerted effort to maintain their influence in the country by increasing their aggressive education programs and promising job opportunities. The number of refugees and orphans continues to rise, as do the levels of poverty and suffering. In addition, Uganda has one of the highest per capita AIDS rates in the world. By providing care packages to kids, teachers, and mothers, you will demonstrate the love of Jesus to the people of Uganda.
Kids Helping Kids By Kids … For Kids® helps U.S. and Canadian children to put their place in the world in perspective, to identify with people in need around the world, and to learn that, no matter how young they are, they can make a difference. Teaching our kids how to be "the hands of Jesus" in their world helps them cultivate compassion at an early age. Participating in By Kids … For Kids by gathering school supplies, hygiene products, and toys will not only help Ugandan children, but will also help U.S. and Canadian children develop their Christian faith through action.
Calling Mothers and Teachers North American mothers and teachers can help fellow Ugandan mothers and teachers through The Mothers Touch and Teacher to Teacher® projects. Participants fill boxes with hygiene products, teaching supplies, and more to send to people in need.
Get Involved Throughout the last decade, the LHM Global Care Packages effort has sent more than 240,000 packages to people in 16 different countries. The goal of this LHM Global Care Packages effort in Uganda is to send more than 20,000 care packages to Ugandan kids, teachers, and mothers.
