New 'Men's NetWork' Ignites Men's Groups to Greater Action
March 10, 2009
With individual registered users, e-newsletter subscribers, and new churches coming on board, Lutheran Hour Ministries' (LHM) Men's NetWork at www.lhmmen.com is gaining traction in the cyber marketplace. Part of the Web site's attraction is its broad offering of practical and easy-to-use resources with a Web design that appeals to men.

Pastors are already finding in-church applications for Men's NetWork Web features such as "The Baloney Shop" or video Bible studies. "I use videos a lot in services and Bible studies; short clips work well for me."

Producing fresh Bible studies is a top priority for the Men's NetWork. "Thanks for the work—this looks like a very useful resource. I especially appreciate the video Bible studies. As a pastor, I would appreciate more of these kinds of studies that are doctrinally sound and visually engaging."

Just added in February to Home Run King; Who Am I? What Am I Doing Here?; and He Who Dies With The Most Toys Still Dies, is a Bible study on creation. In Out of Nothing: The Word, Creation and Faith, Pastor Steve Misch examines the rocky ground of the creation-evolution debate. He shows how a divine material creation and man's justification before God through Jesus' death and resurrection are intrinsically connected.

And coming in April is a Bible study covering terrain likely unfamiliar to many. In the Challenge of Islam. Part One: What is Islam? Sam Shamoun, an Arab Christian, articulates the basics of this 1,400-year-old belief system from the Five Pillars of Islam to the Quran's view of paradise. This Men's NetWork Bible study is intellectually challenging and a useful catalyst for informed group discussions on the nature and dynamics of Islam. Throughout this engaging study, Shamoun shows clearly the abiding hope Christians share on account of the atoning life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Free Offer When Booking Spring 'Equipping to Share' Workshop
Time is running out to host a spring Equipping to Share workshop from LHM. April and May dates for this one-day personal-evangelism-training workshop are still available. As a bonus, those registering now will receive LHM's Practicing Hospitality kit — a $75 value — free!

Using skilled instructors, Bible-based and interactive materials, and large- and small-group discussions, these workshops help individuals identify "mission moments" when and where they can share the Gospel. Participants have weighed in on Equipping to Share and indicate the program has helped them in becoming a more vocal witness. "Saturday was awesome—we had 46 participants! Yesterday at church I got so much good feedback I wish you could have heard it. I am praying that translates to a lot more sharing of faith!"

For congregations booking a date now through May, LHM will send them Practicing Hospitality. The first few minutes of contact with visitors are crucial to any church interested in being hospitable. Practicing Hospitality helps church members find their comfort zone and maximize those first encounters. Program pieces include a planning guide, PowerPoint and video material for easy instruction, a facilitator script, and a DVD for use during worship.

This offer won't be here long though. The spring Equipping to Share season is coming to a close and the last date a workshop request will be accepted is April 24. For more information, call Sarah Guldalian at 1-800-944-3450, ext. 4144, or send her an e-mail at equipping@lhm.org.

It's not too late to read LHM's Lenten Devotions online or receive them via e-mail for the rest of Lent. Visit www.lentendevotions.net.
