| LHM Selects New Executive Director
St. Louis, Mo., Jul. 27, 2004 Tennessee native, Greg E. Lewis has been selected as Executive Director of Lutheran Hour Ministries, effective Aug. 9, 2004. He brings 29 years of experience in the private sector to the ministries. Lewis has served as president and board member of numerous non-profit organizations throughout his business career. Most recently, Lewis was appointed by Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen as a Commissioner on the Tennessee Human Rights Commission.
Lewis will succeed Interim Executive Director Don Bennett, who has served the ministry in that capacity since Nov. 1, 2003. As of Aug. 9, Don Bennett will become Assistant Executive Director, mentoring Lewis regarding the Executive Director position through Oct. 31, 2004. Bennett has served the ministry for 27 years in several capacities including being the president of the International Lutheran Laymen's League and its Lutheran Hour Ministries from 1992 to 1996. After Oct. 31, Bennett will continue to serve the ministry as a District Manager Supervisor, operating out of Lansing, Mich.
Lewis was named to the post July 22, during the International Lutheran Laymen's League's annual convention in Rapid City, S.D. In accepting his new position Lewis commented, "I look forward to working with the volunteers and staff of the International Lutheran Laymen's League and its Lutheran Hour Ministries in 'Bringing Christ to the Nations—and the Nations to the Church.'"
Lutheran Hour Ministries is a St. Louis-based media outreach ministry of the International Lutheran Laymen's League, an auxiliary of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod and Lutheran Church—Canada. The ministry airs TV, radio and Internet programming in more than 50 countries and has ministry centers in 41 countries. Its flagship radio program in North America is "The Lutheran Hour," the world's oldest continually broadcast Gospel radio program, airing since 1930.
