Organizational Overview

General Information About Lutheran Hour Ministries

Through Christian radio and TV programming, Internet and print communications, dramas, music, and congregational outreach training, Lutheran Hour Ministries works with The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod, Lutheran Church—Canada, and congregations worldwide in Bringing Christ to the Nations—and the Nations to the Church.

Lutheran Hour Ministries produces and airs radio and TV programming in more than 40 languages. Last year, more than one million people contacted LHM worldwide, and nearly 80,000 referrals were made to local pastors as a result of Lutheran Hour Ministries’ media programs and initiatives.

LHM is based in St. Louis, Missouri, and has ministry centers in more than 40 countries, staffed almost entirely by nationals of the countries where it operates. These devout Christians use radio and TV programming, the Internet, dramas, music, Bible correspondence courses, printed materials, and other media to share Christ in and around their countries, often at great personal risk.

LHM’s flagship radio program is The Lutheran Hour®, the world’s longest-running Gospel radio program. It first aired in 1930 and is currently broadcast on more than 800 stations.

Lutheran Hour Ministries is a global media and congregational outreach organization supporting The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS), Lutheran Church—Canada (LCC), and churches worldwide. LHM is also known as the International Lutheran Laymen's League (Int’l LLL), a volunteer movement of more than 100,000 supporters that has been in existence since 1917. The ministry is independently funded by its members and donors, who are often active volunteers helping to further the ministries’ programs.

For more information about LHM and its worldwide efforts to reach the lost with the message of salvation through Christ, call 1-800-944-3450, or visit www.lhm.org.
