Prodigal Children, Clues to Identity—Two New Booklets from 'Project Connect'

Whether it's coming to terms with the heartbreak that results from a child leaving home or you're looking for clues as to what makes you—or your best friend—tick, Project Connect has two new booklets for you.

In Parents of Prodigals—The Journey Through The Valley, Christian author and 30-year counselor Dan Kohn offers his insights and road-tested perceptions to parents wrestling with the absence of a son or daughter. The chasm that separates parent and child can go on for years and become a defining characteristic of the family suffering from this loss. Though parents may feel helpless, there is no need for despair. Kohn writes, "The heavenly Father is fully able to accomplish what a parent is unable to do. It is time to let go of what cannot be done through human effort and let God do His miraculous work." This vital booklet encourages the reader, reminding him and her that it is God who puts things back together—it is God who can restore what seems irreparably broken.

In The Mystery of You: Clues to Your True Identity, Dr. Melanie Wilson uses the popular board game CLUE® as a template to assist readers in understanding their own personalities—or the personalities of those around them. It's where we've been (rooms); what we've done (weapons); and who other people (witnesses) say we are that says a lot about what goes on inside us and makes us who we are. We build our perception of self—good and bad—from a lifetime of dealing with people, experiencing life, and making decisions. Sin, however, has marred our ability to understand ourselves. Whether we think we've got it all together or are falling apart at the seams, there is One who knows us best, understands us fully, and loves us anyway—Jesus Christ. It is through Him and the price He paid to redeem us from sin—and ourselves—that our true identity—our new identity—is achieved through faith.
