Christ is Changing Traditions of Unbelief
Volunteers serving with LHM International Ministries encounter a wide diversity of backgrounds among the people who visit their ministry centers. Some have a notion of who Jesus is; some have never heard of the Gospel; others grew up in countries where religion was outlawed—countries like the republics that comprised the former Soviet Union.
Recently a young Uzbek man visited the LHM—Russia ministry center and asked to enroll in a Bible Correspondence Course (BCC).
"For me it was a bit unusual because he was from Uzbekistan and we do not have too many foreigners stop by," observed Igor Savich, who directs LHM ministry activities in Russia. "He said he came to St. Petersburg to earn money to send back to his family."
The young man, Tursunov, said that he worked as a maintenance man at a local church—adding that he had grown up an atheist, just like many people in the Communist Soviet Union. But in the lobby of the church where he worked, Tursunov had one day picked up an LHM flier encouraging people to enroll in BCC. He hoped that the Bible courses could teach him about God and Christianity.
"He was very enthusiastic when I presented him with reading materials from the New Testament and the book of Psalms," observed Savich. The LHM—Russia staff maintains contact with Tursunov and continues to share with him the Good News of Christ's salvation.
"Please pray for Tursunov and for numerous other immigrants who are working in Moscow and St. Petersburg," says Igor Savich. Pray also for our ministry centers in more than 30 countries; it is through their presence and their outreach efforts that people are seeing the light of Christ and ending generations-long traditions of unbelief.
Igor Savich is attending the annual Int'l LLL Convention in Greensboro. Please stop by the International Ministries booth to visit with him, as well as representatives from Cameroon, Chile and India.
