Help "Share His Story" with the Convention Servant Event
Each year, the children and youth at the international convention of the International Lutheran Laymen's League participate in a servant event to help others in need. This year, they are collecting Bibles for distribution at the Brenner's Children's Hospital on the campus of the Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The hospital will distribute Bibles to children ages 2-10. Adult convention attendees will collect large print Bibles for older patients at the Baptist Hospital and residents of nursing facilities in the Greensboro area.
Children and youth will also make prayer cards and memory labels to be placed in each Bible. According to Randy Killian, Convention Committee Chairman, "We encourage convention attendees to bring new Bibles to donate or bring extra money to purchase Bibles. Our goal is for LLL Groups in North Carolina and convention attendees to donate 500 children's Bibles and 500 large-print Bibles." Children's Bibles will be available at the convention for $5 and large print Bibles will be sold for $11.
The international convention, under the theme "Share His Story," will be held July 16-19 at the Sheraton Hotel and Joseph Koury Conference Center in Greensboro. For more information on convention activities, or to register, visit www.lhm.org/convention or call 1-800-876-9880.
