Two LHM Programs Garner Awards at Texas Arts Festival
Third-party recognition is always appreciated, especially when an award is involved. Make that two awards. This year at the First International Christian Communication Arts Festival at Concordia University in Austin, Texas, both JCPlayZone, at www.jcplayzone.com, and the LHM Men's NetWork at www.lhmmen.com snagged prizes.
Cited for—among other things—its "kid friendly" design, its application of "best practices in Web design," its creative and engaging use of colors, and its use of "children's voices," JCPlayZone was a hit with judges. Full of stuff that's fun, interactive, and downloadable, the JCPlayZone Web site offers music, coloring pages, recipes, crafts, and computer games.
The award related to the LHM Men's NetWork was actually earned by behind-the-scenes work done for its branding campaign. Employing a "variety of media" in a manner "consistent in design and quality," word has gone out regarding this brand-new men's ministry initiative via letter mailings, postcards, e-mailings and announcements, targeted video productions, ad placements in external publications, and PowerPoint slides.
The contest was all about spreading the word, especially that most important Word—God's Son, Jesus Christ. Matt Berndt, director of Career Services at the College of Communication at The University of Texas, put it this way:
"If we want to be effective communicators—effective in sharing the Good News of salvation, we have to focus on what God wants to say through us and who He wants to reach—and put aside our notions about what God wants to say, how He wants to say it, and who we should be reaching."
