The Mormons: Who Are They, Really?
The Mormon Church, which began in the 1820s with the supposed divine revelations of Joseph Smith in upstate New York, is fascinating and not a little out there. This six-part Bible study examines the group's origins (Joseph Smith, The Book of Mormon, Brigham Young, and others); the discrepancy between Mormon beliefs and orthodox Christian teaching and faith; the meaning of some of its puzzling rituals (baptism of the dead, endowments for the living and dead, temple garments, celestial marriage); and the prominence of the temple in the life of a Mormon.

Grillin' Machines That Get the Job Done
The concept is pretty easy here: send us a picture or two of your favorite grilling rig -- hand built or store bought, it doesn't matter. We want to see what you're cooking on. As any griller will likely tell you, outdoor grills are kind of personal, often reflecting the style and interests of its operator. The fuel to be used is a matter of some deliberation as well. For instance, if you're among the growing legions of grill commanders nationwide, what's your energy source? Do you prefer to light your fire and cook your cuisine with propane, natural gas, or charcoal? Or are you just plain old-fashioned -- using only select wood species that burn evenly and complement your foodstuffs with just the right level of heat and smoky aroma? Another term for these people is "pioneers."

Getting a Handle on Islam
The impact of Islam on today's world is considerable. But what is it about this belief system that makes it so alien to the Western mindset? In these two Men's NetWork Bible studies, The Challenge of Islam: What Is Islam? and The Challenge of Islam: Defending the Christian Faith, host Sam Shamoun introduces the viewer to the world of Islam -- from the five pillars of faith to the Muslim's view of paradise to Islam's position on the Trinity to the three phases of jihad. Delivered in plain English, his lively style engages as it teaches. As both Arab and Christian, Shamoun holds a close familiarity with the tensions and similarities that abound in the Jewish-Christian-Muslim milieu. These Bible studies will prove intellectually challenging and a catalyst for informed group discussions on the nature and dynamics of Islam. It does this while clearly showing the living hope Christians share through the work and person of Jesus Christ.

A Special Witness
"Will you suffer all, even death, rather than ...?" That was a troubling question I was asked when I stood before my congregation as a 14-year-old to confirm the faith God created in me at my Baptism. What if I was put on the spot -- what if my very life was on the line -- would I hold to my public confession that Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior?

Men's NetWork Bible Studyl:: Mormons: Who They Are, What They Believe
(Includes subtitles in English) The Mormon Church (aka The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) means different things to different people. From its feel-good, family-oriented TV commercials to its Grammy- and Emmy-winning Mormon Tabernacle Choir to its bicycling missionaries, the Mormon Church is high profile all the way. Founded in the early 19th century, this religious movement boasts more than 15 million members and 85,000 missionaries, ranking it in the top five of "Christian denominations" in the U.S., according to the National Council of Churches.
