New LHM Ministry Center Opens in Chile Release No: 07-51 By Kenneth Peterson

Jun. 26 SANTIAGO, Chile: Lutheran Hour Ministries is working with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Republic of Chile (IELCHI) on a mission project to plant churches in Chile’s capital. A new Cristo Para Todas Las Naciones (CPTLN) ministry center opened June 1, in the megacity of Santiago, Chile. The Santiago metro area has over six million inhabitants living in 35 separate communities.
The office, under the supervision of the CPTLN center in Buenos Aires, Argentina, is being funded by a special grant from the Schwan Foundation in support of the new mission by the IELCHI. When the church set up their plans to establish a mission in Santiago to plant churches there, they invited LHM to partner with them. The mission center and CPTLN office are co-located in the busy area known as La Florida in the capital city.
The coordinator for the CPTLN ministry is Marianela Bravo Oryazun, who was chosen from a number of candidates that responded to the IELCHI’s call for nominations. She is working closely with Rev. Alberto Groh, long-time director of the ministry in Argentina, to learn the administrative aspects of the job and gain ideas on outreach strategies. The missionary in charge of the Santiago project is Rev. Cristian Rautenberg, who previously was the director for one of the IELCHI’s large Lutheran schools in Valparaiso, Chile.
We pray God’s rich blessings on this important mission effort to reach people for Christ in Santiago.
