A Search for the "Truth" Leads Lebanon Man to LHM
Release No: 09-31
By Noel Hwande

May 8— BEIRUT, Lebanon: Muhammad is a Palestinian man who started reading the Quran when he was young. He later joined the Islamic Brotherhood thinking that he could be a better Muslim. He wanted to behave according to what the Quran says, and to be sincere in following what the text of that book said. He never wanted to be radical, just an obedient Muslim.

When he heard a Lutheran Hour Ministries (LHM) radio program, it was the first time he heard a Christian broadcast or anything about the Christian religion. His curiosity led him to ask for the Bible, and he quickly started reading.

Over the next two years, the LHM-Lebanon staff received many letters from Muhammad asking about Christianity.

"Sometimes he tried to convince us to become Muslims," commented one staff member.

During this period, they were praying for him and evangelizing with him until one day Muhammad confessed, "I don't know where the truth is!" Adding that he had two religions battling in his head - the powerful and comforting message of the Gospel, versus many years of Islamic teachings.

The staff continued encouraging him to pray, while providing many verses from the Bible and asking the Lord to show him the truth.

One month later, Muhammad wrote saying that the Lord led him to the truth of the Bible and of Jesus Christ. He is so convinced now that this is the only truth and he declared he will always follow Jesus no matter what the cost will be.

His testimony was a real blessing for all the LHM staff. Muhammad is now studying a Bible Correspondence Course lesson on "The Life of Paul" and continually thirsts for more knowledge of the Bible. He proclaims, "With the Holy Spirit living in me, I now experience true peace. In the midst of troubles, God's Word has given me the promise of faith in the Lord and the patience to endure hardship."

Muhammad concludes, "I am grateful to God for witnessing to me through MELM and teaching me how to live a victorious life, rich in worship and thanksgiving."
