Soldier makes online connection with Christ Release No: 09-24 By Gerald Sonnenberg
Mar. 24 BANGKOK, Thailand: The Internet can sometimes be used for harm. For many, it is a way to find "love." For "James," a single, 40-year-old lieutenant colonel in the Army, finding love on the Internet had a different and unexpected meaning.
It might sound unusual, but despite his stature in the military, James was not a confident man. This made him unhappy. Without an understanding of what could possibly be bothering him or an understanding of God's Love, he decided it must be evil spirits.
Some people teased James about his "evil spirits," which made him feel even worse. In his efforts to find happiness, he found a local church in the Petchburi Province where he began to learn about Jesus and attend church services. In an effort to learn even more, he began searching the Internet. That's when he came across the Lutheran Hour Ministries (LHM)-Thailand site. He enrolled online to study the LHM Bible Correspondence Course (BCC) and is now studying Lesson One in the second course. He discovered Christ's undying love for all of us through the information provided on the site and in the BCC.
James now says that he is full of joy. Before, James used to feel that he was a slave to something which made him unhappy. Faith in Jesus Christ has made James more independent and instilled in him a new confidence. Currently, he is still attending a local church and asks for prayers that God will lead and care for his spiritual life and work.
Your continued prayers and support for LHM allow outreach programs to have an impact all around the world. We ask that you prayerfully consider a gift to our International Ministries today.
