Young woman completes long journey toward faith
Release No: 09-21
By Gerald Sonnenberg

Mar. 13— BANGKOK, Thailand: Sometimes a person's journey in faith can take a long time to develop. Ornhatai was raised in a non-Christian home in Thailand. At 4-years of age, she learned about God from a Christian neighbor. Though she didn't understand very much of what the neighbor taught her, she tried to learn. She moved not long afterward, and it wasn't until high school that the young woman again took an interest in God's Word after coming across a local Christian church talking about God at a department store.

After this encounter, she attended the church a few times and saw the members singing songs of praise and studying the Bible. Her experience in the church was emotional and she began to cry, though she didn't know why.

After moving to a different province, she became more curious and joined a Bible study. She soon met the pastor of Prachakom Chaengwattana Church in Nonthaburi and started attending worship at church again. This time she felt eager and wanted to know more about God and started reading Christian books. In one of these books she found the address of the Lutheran Hour Ministries (LHM)-Thailand ministry center in Bangkok. She contacted the office and enrolled in the Bible Correspondence Course (BCC). Through this study, the now 26-year-old student has come to know more about God and recently received Jesus as her savior. She was baptized in November.

She said that since studying the BCC, she now knows that it is God who created her, and He has redeemed her from her sins.

"Studying these courses has made me know the truth about God, and I think this training taught me how to live according to God's Word." She added that she often argued and was not respectful of her parents. After receiving Christ as her savior she has become more patient and has been transformed into a new person who honors her father and mother. Ornhatai said her life has changed for the better since she came to know God. Her one wish now is to have her own Bible to study. LHM will provide that Bible to her. In addition, Ornhatai also receives encouraging Gospel messages from LHM on her mobile phone.

Please remember Ornhatai in your prayers.
