Syrian man finds 'voice of truth' through LHM-Lebanon

Feb. 27— BEIRUT, Lebanon: The radio broadcasts from Lutheran Hour Ministries (LHM) ministry center in Beirut, Lebanon have reached thousands over the years-and not just in Lebanon. "Izaat" is a young man from Syria who heard the "voice of truth" during a recent broadcast. He also has a Muslim background.
Izaat explained that, like all people, he lived a life of sinfulness and was severely burdened by it. "I tried hard to compensate for my wrongdoings by doing good deeds, but I did not find rest. In fact, I felt that God did not love me. I did not love myself either," he explained.
"For a long time I was waiting for someone or something that would change my life for the better," he said. "After listening to your radio program, 'The Most Important Lesson,' I accepted your invitation to learn more about Christ who can relieve people of their sins. I don't know why, but I felt that this is what I needed most."
Later that night, Izaat said he prayed and asked the Lord for forgiveness of his sins. He wanted to become a new person in the Lord. "I can't describe how I felt from that moment; all I can say that I was very happy and peace filled my heart.
"Through LHM I discovered that Jesus Christ died for me. He loves me and I have hope in eternal life too. I realize now that in Him I have a new life," said Izaat.
He is now taking the Bible Correspondence Course (BCC), "The Life of Christ," and Izaat says it is helping him to know Jesus more. He is also encouraged by the letters sent by LHM staff that make him feel like "a family."
"I need your prayers and letters to encourage me. I want to know more about Christ and come to know other Christians and have Christian fellowship with them."
The LHM-Lebanon staff is helping Izaat to find believers near him to encourage him more and to be able to have fellowship with Christians.
