Prayer helps heal the heart of angry young woman
Release No: 09-04
By Gerald Sonnenberg

Jan. 13— PHNOM PENH, Cambodia: Anger, frustration, greed, and other emotions can consume a person, tearing at their heart and making their lives miserable. Ket is now a 28-year-old businesswoman who was once consumed by her emotions until a visit by a Lutheran Hour Ministries (LHM) Cambodia volunteer.

"I was a person who easily became angry and was a hot-blooded person that couldn't be patient without quarrelling and fighting," she said. "Anger, fighting, envy, and greed have made living my life difficult and terrible for my family."

As a young woman, Ket's emotional strain led to physical illness and treatment by a therapist. Her parents loved her and desperately wanted her to become better so they sacrificed a lot for her. The visits to the therapist seemed to do little to quell the anger Ket felt and the emotions that were tearing her apart.

One day, Ket heard that an LHM volunteer was coming to the village bringing Bible Correspondence Course (BCC) materials. "I heard that there was a man coming to evangelize in my village about forgiving sins and about the salvation of Christ Jesus, but at the time I did not believe what he evangelized," said Ket. "But one day I picked up the BCC lesson books that he gave me. I found that the words of God are very wonderful and have much power to transform people's hearts...especially my heart."

She began to pray, and Ket's newly discovered ability to talk with God about her problems led to a comfort that has since changed her life. The Holy Spirit also worked in the hearts of Ket's parents.

"From the time my parents and I were touched by God, we have been strengthened in faith in Him by studying the BCC. Right now we have finished the third course. We have followed Him because He is the real God who gives us the love, salvation, and rightness we need in our lives," said Ket.

Ket and her parents are now LHM volunteers distributing BCC lesson books. "I want others to get to know Him as I have," she said.

Please pray for Ket and her family and the LHM-Cambodia staff and volunteers as they help spread the loving message of Jesus.

Your continued prayers and support for LHM allow outreach programs to have an impact all around the world. We ask that you prayerfully consider a gift to our International Ministries today.
