LHM U.S. Hispanic Ministries

Welcome to Hispanic Ministries!

Lutheran Hour Ministries' Hispanic Ministry is called Cristo Para Todas Las Naciones (CPTLN), or Christ For All Nations. This ministry's primary focus is to share the saving message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the Hispanics in the US who still do not know Him as their Lord and Savior.

The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod started the first Hispanic mission in Texas in 1926. Currently, there are 145 LCMS churches conducting Hispanic ministry in the United States.

The first Spanish version of The Lutheran Hour® aired in 1941. Dr. Andrés Melendez was the first Spanish-language speaker. Until his retirement in 1972, his voice was heard on the radio program throughout Latin America, Spain, and the United States.

Hispanics, with a population of approximately 41.3 million, make the United States the fifth largest Spanish-speaking country in the world. By 2030, when it is expected that 96.3 million Hispanics will reside in the US, the United States will be the second largest Spanish-speaking country in the world (behind Mexico).

Although most Hispanics identify themselves as Roman Catholics, only 10 percent are active in a church. According to USA Today, by the year 2050, one in four people in the U.S. will be Hispanic, with a population that will surpass 100 million.

LHM's US Hispanic Ministries offers a wide variety of resources to help individuals and congregations reach out to their Hispanic neighbors. You can check them out by visiting the LHM Storefront.
