2008 LLL International Convention
Lexington, Kentucky
July 24-27
The Indiana District is thrilled to host the most exciting International Lutheran Laymen’s League (Int’l LLL) event of 2008, when the 91st international convention comes to Lexington, Kentucky, July 24-27. Within a day’s drive of 68 percent of the U.S. population, Lexington is a great site for what promises to be a memorable event!
The Commonwealth of Kentucky has branded itself a state with “Unbridled Spirit.” The state says, “Kentucky is a place where spirits are free to soar and big dreams can be fulfilled. We relish competition and cherish our champions for their desire to push beyond conventional boundaries to reach new heights of success.”
In the Int’l LLL, we know about an even more powerful spirit—the Holy Spirit—who fills us with the hope we have in our champion, Jesus Christ. We will celebrate the Spirit as we meet under our convention theme, “Live by the Spirit,” from Galatians 5:16. It is our prayer that the convention will refresh and renew your faith and, by God’s grace, bring you closer to Him.
Guest speaker Pat Day, one of the most accomplished horse jockeys in North American history, did not live by the Spirit early in his career. Despite his success as a jockey, he turned to a self-destructive pattern of alcohol and cocaine. His life was spinning out of control when he heard the Gospel message and realized his need for the Savior. Day will share how God has blessed him throughout his life and his career as a jockey. He will share how the Holy Spirit can work through imperfect people.
You will also be uplifted by events such as The Lutheran Hour Rally, devotions, worship services, and outreach training workshops.
