Dealing With Stress

Life is tough. Demands from all sides! People wanting it done yesterday! Pleasing the boss, the spouse, the kids. You're stressed out!

When will you get a break? When do you get some peace?

Here are some things to think about: First, remember, stress itself isn't bad, it's how we handle it, or, MIS-handle it, that makes us feel overwhelmed. Second, stress often comes when we try to control things that are really out of our control. Do you need to let go of some things like that? It's not easy, but the third thing to remember is that the One who DOES have control over all things - God - loves you very much. His whole goal is to give you peace!

You say you're not feeling very peaceful right now? Well, perhaps you're looking in the wrong place - maybe your focus is a bit off (that happens when we get stressed!)

Let's take a moment to re-focus. Close your eyes. Take two deep breaths, letting each out slowly. Now, instead of thinking about the concerns around you - keep your eyes closed, but lift your head up.

Dear Jesus, I know you want to give me peace, but worries and concerns keep getting in the way. Forgive me for losing focus. Keep reminding me that you love me and are in control of all things. Help me let go of the things I have no control over, trusting in your complete control and love. Amen.

Now, take two more deep breaths, letting them out slowly open your eyes keep your new focus and take His peace with you into whatever situations you may face.
