I have seen references on this web site to Lutheran Hour Ministries and the International Lutheran Laymen's League. What is the connection between the organizations?
The International Lutheran Laymen's League and Lutheran Hour Ministries are the same organization. The official organization name is the International Lutheran Laymen's League and the ministry of the organization is currently expressed through a wide range of Christ-centered outreach efforts under the name of Lutheran Hour Ministries. The organization's business and financial affairs are overseen by a Board of Directors consisting of a chair, vice chair and 12 directors as part of a new governance structure.
Is Lutheran Hour Ministries affiliated with a larger Church body?
The International Lutheran Laymen’s League/Lutheran Hour Ministries is currently recognized as an official auxiliary of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) and Lutheran Church—Canada (LCC). The Church’s auxiliary organizations extend the ministry and mission of the Synod and play vital roles in helping the LCMS and LCC spread the Gospel message and win hearts for Christ. As an auxiliary, we receive no direct financial support from the budgets of the LCMS or LCC and rely on gifts from our generous donors. Lutheran Hour Ministries is currently recognized with the Best in America designation by the Independent Charities of America, one of only 2,000 charities nationwide to receive this honor.
Has Lutheran Hour Ministries changed its logo?
Yes! To illustrate a renewed focus on global outreach, Lutheran Hour Ministries has recently unveiled a new logo. At the heart of the logo is the cross, and four people reach out with the Gospel from it to the four corners of the world. The design also signifies LHM’s desire to be your partner in HIS mission to rescue, restore and renew all who are lost and hurting.
